Please keep a natural feel to it. I mean yeah, they can growl words and stuff, but I don't want two predatory dinosaurs making friends with each other or a carnivore and herbivore being friendly with each other. So none of that emo dinosaur stuff I sometimes see....Please. If I see it on here you're character(s) will get savagely torn apart by one of the moderators' characters then you will be banned. For this kind of role-play, that ranks right up there next to God-moding, so yeah.
Also, if description about the weather will be an issue, a moderator, more than likely myself since I'm pretty much on here 24/7, will set the the weather descriptions for the rest of the day. I've been at other role-playing sites a long time, and one thing I don't like seeing is noobs ignoring a post right above them then writing a description that's totally the opposite.
Also, breaking in character posts with ooc comments like I've done with the descriptions isn't prohibited, but is deffinately unrecommended as it really ruins game play. If you have something that you want to say in OOC go to that forum, or if it's relavant to the OOC post then keep it short. If it's really between you and another character....There are private messages.
Mating............Yes animals mate; yes dinosaurs were animals; therefore by all logic, dinosaurs mated. But this brings me back to the point that dinosaurs weren't human. It's a human thing to put a lot of passion into intercourse, not an animal thing. Keep it simple, short, and no inner thoughts and NO PHYSICAL FEELING. Animals do it to reproduce, not for pleasure. If I find any kind of stuff like that happening, refer to the consequence of the first rule, only add cannabalism.
Migrations happened too, this is where it'd suck to be a predator kinda. But herbivores can post (with their NPC herds) in the general role-playing section to migrate from one habitat to another as long as it is on the same continent and time period. That won't save them from from the predators in their area, however; because if they are so inclined they can stalk the herd and pick off the stragglers (NPC's only in this case.)
When migrating, don't expect to get there in one small post, you can either choose to break it up over many small posts or have one big post, it's really your choice. If your a carnivore and your stalking a migrating herd and picking off stragglers and weaklings, make sure the post includes some good detail and is a good read. Depending on the situation however, the main migrating character might choose to defend his herd-mates. We'll just have to see.
Also, for the carnivores, when attacking a herbivore in a pack, know that just because it's just the one character, all herbivores (with the exception of ankylosaurs and stegosaurs) automatically are in a herd, and expect to deal with that problem. Although if you find an advantage you have or a weakness they have, exploit it. Predators have done that since the beginning of time.
Above all else, do what you came here to do, which is have fun. That's what I plan to do.
