In the middle of a vast flood plain, there is a decent sized pond. It's 300 feet wide and 500 feet long. At the deepest part it is 50 feet. Along the shores there are all sorts of plants growing including cycads, gingkos, and ferns. Further away from the pond there are fast expanses of plains and tall trees spotting the landscape.
During the dry season the pond drys up to half it's original size, making scavenging a good way to get a meal if your a carnivore. Herbivores can get forage from the surrounding plant material.
