South and east of the oasis, fierce wind storms sometimes occur here, whipping up loose sand particles. Few plants are able to take and hold root here. Those that do are very coarse and prickly. Groups of these plants can be found scattered out very few and very far between.
There are even fewer animals able to etch out a living here due to the lack of water and plant material. The animals that really thrive here are insects and reptiles. Predators can usually get lucky though by finding animals that were too inexperienced for foraging in the desert. Scavenging is usually the best way a predator has of finding food in the desert.
(OOC: The sand storms, like the crocodiles at the oasis will be a random even, once in a blue moon. Now, for herbivores, if you role-play foraging around good enough then I'll grant it. For carnivores, you have to role-play it good enough to find a carcass of decent size. If you want to role-play following a herd of migrating sauropods waiting for one of them to die, you have to make it worth reading, and really good. But it's up to you. Go get 'em.)
