Cutting through all the trees south-east to north-west is a mighty river. It's path cutting a slight valley off to the north-west. The vegetation around here is dense, with trees reaching upwards 50 feet or more. The forrest floor is covered with ferns and cycads.
All sorts of reptiles, amphibians and primitive mammals do their best to survive in this landscape. Insects fly around the air. A herbivore would have no trouble finding an easy meal from the different types of vegetation growing here.
A carnivore would have it's choice of either scavenging from all the nest sites during the rainy season, or making a kill from all the prey wondering about.
Although there is a danger of flash flooding during the rainy season, but it is fairly easy to avoid.
